Living and eating
Made for entertaining, the big family kitchen and dining-room is the heart of the home and the perfect setting for catching up together and making memories.
The open-plan kitchen is a perfect space for flexing culinary muscles and creating feasts for you and your loved ones, and has everything you'll need, from the Aga fridge to the Nespresso machine. Handily, Curgurrell Farm Shop is just up the road for lots of locally-sourced goodies with fish and seafood a speciality, but don't worry if cooking isn't your forte or on your agenda - there's a host of excellent eateries just moments away.
Dining is just divine with a chunky Art Deco dining table complete with Eames dining chairs - perfect to gather around for holiday meals that last for hours, whilst there's a sofa too if you need to stretch out.
During warmer months, huge bi-fold doors open out to the large sun-soaked terrace bringing the outside in. The lower deck has wonderfully comfortable outdoor sofas and chairs - a perfect spot to watch little ones playing on the lawn - whilst the upper level becomes an al fresco dining room on balmy days, complete with a barbeque.
In addition, the snug sitting room is perfect for playing board games, watching movies or relaxing on the sofa with a good book, snuggled in the glow of the wood burning stove.

Mermaid Cottage has three beautiful, calming double bedrooms, as well as a snug children's dorm on the top floor with four single beds (complete with a Playstation!)

In the Area
Portscatho is a traditional fishing village, with a small harbour, on the stunning Roseland Peninsula, situated on the south coast of Cornwall. Pretty and pastoral, with hidden coves and beaches, this side of the county is much softer and more protected than its rugged neighbour the north coast. There's so much to do in this wonderful part of Cornwall, whether it's exploring the beaches such as Porthcurnick, Porthbean, Towan, Carne and Pendower, walking the stunning South West Coastal Path or visiting the plethora of gardens which make the most of the warmer climate - such as Trelissick Gardens or The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
With lots of great places to eat and drink, you'll be spoilt for choice. For something a little different, try The Hidden Hut beach café on the cliffs above Porthcurnick Beach - only a 10-minute walk away from the house. It's a wooden beach-side shed serving simple fresh food and drink with an outdoor seating area to the front with uninterrupted views out to sea and across the bay to Portscatho. Their feast nights are fabulous, these are only available by pre-booked ticket as they're so popular! You're also within immediate walking distance of local pub The Plume of Feathers in the heart of the village which serves great pub food, Tatums Taverna where you can enjoy wonderful, locally produced food from the simple open grill in a bustling atmosphere, or if silver-service is your thing, The Driftwood Hotel boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant. A few miles down the road in St Mawes, you will find the renowned Tresanton Hotel and The Idle Rocks.
